WHAT IS SETSUGI?
Setsugi stitching is a series of rowed stitches on the back of the jacket that run from
the base of the neckline down the back of the jacket.
|
WHY USE A SETSUGI?
Setsugi judogi are used by all serious Judo competitors because it makes
them less vulnerable to their opponents.
- The setsugi stitching flattens the back
material, helping to prevent the other player from grabbing onto the back of the jacket
and stops the fabric from stretching when an opponent attempts a choke.

- Some makers make a narrow seam setsugi that
almost defeats the purpose.
x
- Judogi with decent setsugi usually start at
around $200 and go up from there.
x
- As far as we know FIRE EAGLE has the
widest setsugi available today and for the least money.
